How To Really Sell Affiliate Products Today
Affiliate marketing is big business ($17 Billion sold) and it keeps growing every year.
Soon to be $27 Billion by 2027 which means a lot more sales. I won't lie to you it's the BIG COMPANIES doing most of the selling. Why?
Traffic and eyeballs.
Us little guys don't have tons of traffic. I mean the news media all have websites that get a ton of traffic. So, all they have to do is post ads and drop links. With millions of eyeballs, they get sales like crazy. Anyone with a large audience, group or followers can just mention something and it sells.
So, it's easy to see why most of the large numbers in affiliate marketing are great big, slimy companies.
Don't think dropping affiliate links in your emails and on your webpages is going to sell tons of products. In the early days, when you could put up a website and quickly get free Google traffic, it worked. But today, the internet is a heck of a lot more crowded, more distracting and people are ad blind.
Think of affiliate sales as a bonus. You need something else if you want to crush it. A product or product line of your own. An email list of proven buyers will always outsell a freebie list. Use affiliate selling at first to get your first dollars if you want but be working towards creating your own simple brand.
The gurus still tell people to just sell affiliate products. Buy ads, get free subscribers and make offers. That doesn't really work anymore. The ads are too expensive, the math doesn't work out. Only 1 in 100 will buy anything. So your $100 ad spend is lucky to get one sale. If you are lucky, you make $50 so every ad you are losing 50%. Ouch.
I've tried nearly every way to do affiliate marketing for years and speak from experience. What I share today is the only thing that ever worked for me. Spent thousands on ads. Had ads that made money the first day and never made a dime after that day. Had fake opt ins, 3500 subscribers who never open an email. Seen 99% never even open the delivery email and download the freebie.
People are fickle. They change their minds fast. There are unlimited things to click on, videos to watch, people to stalk on Facebook and a million choices daily. Money is always in short supply. They have to think about things. You face a distracted visitor.
Just putting affiliate offers on your website and hoping for traffic is also not a winning solution. You are lucky to get a handful of free opt-ins a month. You are lucky to get 2 or 3 affiliate sales from links on your website. People don't read blogs like they used to. They all want to watch videos and look at cat photos on Facebook all day. You just can't count on getting enough traffic to your website.
Think about this, the media companies News websites get tons of traffic every day. And they are still in big trouble. Can hardly make any money. Just go look at the websites. You can hardly read the news stories, the page is covered in ads.
The numbers really don't add up for the average online marketer without a giant budget to blow getting traffic. The math doesn't become profitable.
Building your own audience over time is one good solution. Once you have your own group and it doesn't have to be huge, you can ask them what they want.
It doesn't make a bit of difference what you want to sell them. What do they already have a desire for? With a list that knows you, you can ask them.
The big News outlets just dump all kinds of ads on every visitor. When you can't even read the content, you know they don't give a darn about you the visitor.
What does that tell you? It tells me that if you want to sell affiliate products today, you build a buyers list or an audience first. And make affiliate offer to them... your proven buyers...
With an audience who knows you. With people you talk to. Friends. These people value what you say now. They listen. You've demonstrated value.
They will click your links and look at what you talk about. They will be much more likely to buy recommendations.
Add affiliate offers to your emails. Add affiliate links under all your course videos that recommend tools. Tools you just showed them how to use.
Add a resource PDF to all your products. Sprinkle affiliate offer links on your website and in your lead magnets.
Lead up to your next affiliate offer. Tease them in 2 emails first then drop the link. Give a bonus or two if they purchase your recommendation but only if they buy before your deadline.
Bottom line, don't buy ads and send them to affiliate offers. Build your list first. Then make suggestions and recommendations. Offer a bonus. Have a deadline to get the bonuses. Build your brand and audience. Find out what they need help with and deliver solutions to big problems. Give first (part of the solution ie. a first step) and always have a solution for sale that you lead them to. This is important also...
You only sell the click. Get them to want to click. Let the sales page do all the selling. You announce, review and recommend.
Let's end this here, I could talk about this all day. Hope it helps.
